Well done Anja Kruger for providing an owl box for your school. Elspark Primary decided on an outreach programme aimed at aiding the school or community without a financial implication, sponsors or donations are allowed. Only the headboy and headgirl are responsible and can choose any form of outreach.
Anja decided to contact Owlproject.org after reading an article in City Press early this year, "we have also suffered the heartache of losing a beloved animal to poison, and the idea of saving others from this terrible death made the decision easy" Doulina said. As they couldn't afford the school release project and had to rely on their own funding, the owl box was the way to go. The Owl Box Project will be an ongoing project and handed over from one head girl to the next maintaining the box and organise fundraisers to finance additional boxes and creating awareness.
This idea was welcomed by the school principal as it is a initiative to protect and preserve. Anja will stay actively involved until the project is running smoothly.
